Fingerpainting Part I

Today, I attempted Nasko's first "real" (a.k.a. messy) art project! We fingerpainted!

After seeing a homemade, nontoxic recipe on pinterest, I knew that this project was screaming my oral-sensation-seeking boy's name!

First, I cooked up the cornstarch and water mixture during naptime.  It took about 15-20 minutes to thicken.

Next I divided it into four containers and added food coloring.

(Those were in rainbow order, in case you aren't as OCD as I am...)

My cousin Lauren and my aunt Nancy were here today, so they helped with the fingerpainting project.  Lord knows we needed three hands for each of Nasko's hands.

(Yes, I am wearing a hat.  My hair is at an awkward growing-out stage.  The end.)

Painting, painting, painting!

Before starting this activity, I let Nasko know that this paint was "No eat!"  He really didn't try to eat it at all - only smell it.  Now he keeps walking by his pictures and saying "No eat!"

Nasko wasn't so sure about how the fingerpaint felt at first, but he eventually became more used to it.

(Raise your hand if you're glad that I bought myself a new digital camera for my birthday.  Grandparents may put their hands down.)

Now, I didn't take any pictures of the finished paintings, because I'm planning to use them to make something awesome for some family and friends (and it's a surprise!)  Stay tuned for Fingerpainting  Part II!
