Happy National Paperwork Day!

Happy National Paperwork Day!

Happy National Paperwork Day! No?  That's not a national holiday?

But "UN World Telecommunication and Information Society Day" gets all of May 17th?!  Who even celebrates that day?

Therefore, I am issuing the following decree:

Hear ye, hear ye!  Today, May 16, 2011 is hereafter to be referred to as National Paperwork Day!

Here are the events and festivities for such an exciting, invigorating holiday:

11:30-12:30 - Keep Joel entertained while scanning copies of our entire abbreviated dossier, cook lunch, serve lunch, finish laundry, pack Joel's belongings

12:30-1:00 - Drive to Rochester

1:00-1:15 - Have documents notarized

1:15-1:30 - Drive to doctor's office in Springfield

1:30-2:00 - Have doctor sign document while nurse notarizes

2:00-2:10 - Drive to Secretary of State's Office in downtown Springfield

2:10-2:55 - Have documents apostilled at the Secretary of State's Office

2:55-3:00 - Drive three blocks to the nearest post office because Joel is too heavy to carry that far

3:00-3:15 - Go in post office to have documents overnighted to our adoption agency

3:15-4:15 - Drive to Niantic to meet Joel's mother

Other, less-famed ways of celebrating this holiday:

Lug Joel and his giant cast around, give him a snack, answer onlookers' bazillion questions about Joel's cast, feed two parking meters, forget necessary documents in the car, sit on a stone bench crawling in red ants, sing crazy songs in the car in order to keep Joel awake, and play on the floor in the Secretary of State's office because they are remodeling and no one was polite enough to offer my exhausted-self a chair.

Now, some people have decided to go all out and decorate for this holiday.  Let me show you a picture of how I decided to trim my home.  I'm not saying yours must look the same, but I put a lot of time and effort into what I did!

Since the documents were successfully sent, I would see this holiday as a success!  I suppose we'll find that out for sure when our adoption agency contacts us to tell us whether or not any of the documents need redone!  Until then, Happy National Paperwork Day!

B's B-day!
