Break my heart...

I composed the following after hearing the song “Hosana” on my way home from an orphans and adoption meeting:

"Open up my eyes to the things unseen

Show me how to love like you have loved me

Break my heart for what breaks yours

Everything I am for your kingdom's cause..."

- Hosana by Hillsong

God,

Break my heart for what breaks yours.

Let the troubles of the poor and oppressed keep me awake at night.

Break my heart for what breaks yours.

Let me remember those who have no food as I scrape my leftovers into the garbage.

Break my heart for what breaks yours.

Let me think of those in rags as I change out my clothes with every season.

Break my heart for what breaks yours.

Let your Spirit fill me as I share your Son with someone who has never heard or understood your story.

Break my heart for what breaks yours.

Let me fall asleep knowing that I'm protected and safe within my home, even though others are not.

Break my heart for what breaks yours.

Let my stomach churn because millions are dying without medical care.

Break my heart for what breaks yours.

Amen.
